McLaren Vale

Part of the plan with leaving Nimrod in the north over the cyclone season was to keep our options open in the event of cyclonic or wet conditions. So with wet weather looming, rather than go sailing, we decided to fly to South Australia and rent a car and explore some vineyards and stay in a cottage on Kangaroo Island.

Adam Hooper is a small radical winemaker we found living in a tin shed, producing the most exquisite chardonnay. If Penfolds is the Beethoven of winemaking, he is the punk rocker. Check out La Curio 'Suffragette' 2012 Chardonnay.

Here are some photos from the area around McLaren Vale. Some are experiments with HDR (High dynamic range). I am using a Lightroom plugin called LR Enfuse.

  1. Welcome to sunny South Australia. If you are still on the Island, you may discover some of the most magnificant cruising grounds in the southern continent. If you are near Adelaide, you would be most welcome to stay with Kerry and I. We are just south of the CBD at Kings Park, and have a spare room available. We are building our own cat (11M) in our shed. PM or call home phone 8373 3541.
    Regards,
    Greg & Kerry
